groove.cm

Website · seen by Crunchbase, Search volume, Majestic, OpenPageRank, Pricing page, Google Trends, Tech stack, Tranco, Wikipedia

An all in one marketing platform selling funnels, email and checkout in one subscription, which is now closing to new customers as it becomes Scale.gg. Existing members keep their access, and the site carries eleven separate payment processors from the years it was selling hard.

Why it is here

Search intent 2.1 to 5.5, up 161.9% in a day, while search interest went the other way and slipped 1.1%. That combination usually means people are looking for something specific rather than browsing, and here the site says what: Groove.cm is becoming Scale.gg, new enrollment is closed, and existing members keep access. The spike is people finding out it is shutting to newcomers, not demand arriving. Worth recording precisely because the score reads it as a rise and the page says otherwise.

hnglance.com

Website · seen by Crunchbase, Search volume, HackerNews, OpenPageRank, Pricing page, Tranco, Wikipedia

A reader that shows the current Hacker News front page as a single view of what the site is talking about, rather than a ranked list you scroll. It has just started charging, with three tiers where there was previously nothing to buy.

Why it is here

A pricing page appeared where there was none, with three tiers on it, and the traffic rank improved 2.1% in the same day. The pricing signal is the one that matters: it is the moment somebody decides a side project is a product. The Hacker News numbers behind it are four points and four comments, so almost nobody has noticed yet, and that is the interesting part rather than a reason to discount it.

03Day 3

luma-touch.com

Website · seen by Google Play, Crunchbase, Search volume, App Store, OpenPageRank, Pricing page, Tech stack, Tranco, Wikipedia, YouTube

LumaFusion is a professional multi-track video and audio editor for iPad, iPhone and Android, made by Luma Touch. It is sold as a paid app with optional add-ons rather than a subscription, and is aimed at mobile journalists, filmmakers and social video producers who edit on a tablet instead of a desktop.

Why it is here

Second day. Japan 50 to 41 and the best position with it, but the United States went 63 to 64 and the number of countries charting fell from three to two. Yesterday's move was three storefronts climbing together; today only one is still climbing. That is what the end of a promotion looks like, and the next two days decide whether the Japanese gain was the same wave arriving late or something holding on its own.

How to read this

Method

Every number here is a rate of change, never a total. Size is not news. The largest repository on GitHub is not rising, it arrived years ago. What this looks for is movement, and specifically movement that more than one unrelated source noticed on the same day.

That second condition is the whole method. Stars can be bought, backlinks can be built, app installs can be farmed. This project has already killed 2,601 domains for sitting inside link networks, one of which ran to 2,046 sites and covered 98% of everything it tracked on .it. All of them were manufacturing the exact signal one of these sources measures. Faking two unrelated signals at once is far harder work, so a repository seen moving by GitHub and HackerNews, or an app seen by the App Store and Google Play, counts for more than a bigger number in one place.

Whether two sources are genuinely independent is measured rather than assumed. Majestic ranks domains by backlinks and Tranco ranks them by traffic, and the two were treated as one voice for weeks. Comparing their daily movement across 83,000 domains showed no relationship at all, so they now count as two. Any pair that turns out to share data underneath gets folded back into one.

Entries are written to be read rather than scanned. When the evidence is thin, or the story behind it does not hold up, the entry is left out rather than published with a caveat.
