storyreel.life
A short drama app, serving the vertical video serials that have grown into their own category: episodes of a minute or two, shot for a phone held upright, released in runs of fifty or more. The format is watched in a queue rather than sat down in front of, and the apps carrying it monetise by charging to unlock the next episode.
Three independent sources saw this and they disagree, which is the interesting part. Its pricing page went from two tiers to three while its US chart position slipped 45 to 47 and the number of countries it charts in halved from two to one. Adding a paid tier as attention narrows is a monetisation decision, not growth, and 31,066 ratings say the audience it has is already large enough to charge.
