V4bel/Zapscape

Repository · seen by GitHub, HackerNews, Lobsters

A working exploit and write up for CVE-2026-64561, a guest to host escape in KVM on x86. The bug is a use after free in the shadow MMU, in the recursive path that runs when shadow pages are reclaimed, and a guest can trigger it alone to reach the host kernel with root privilege. It is the third in a series from the same researcher, published after the coordinated embargo ended.

Why it is here

Stars 71 to 110 in a day, up 54.9%, forks 6 to 10, and Lobsters points up 44.4%. Ten forks on 110 stars this early says people are running the exploit rather than reading about it.

02Day 7

reflex-dev/xy

Repository · seen by GitHub, HackerNews, npm / PyPI

A charting library for Python, from the team behind the Reflex web framework. It renders interactive charts directly from Python objects, so the analysis and the chart live in the same place instead of the data being handed to a JavaScript layer to draw. It ships on PyPI, and that is what makes the adoption measurable: a download is someone installing it into a project, a star is someone bookmarking it, and those two numbers have been moving in opposite directions here for two weeks.

Why it is here

Weekly downloads 2,668 to 4,518, up 69.3%, while stars moved 2.1%. Watchers went 3 to 10. More people are installing it than have bookmarked it, and that ratio almost never runs this way round.

03Day 3

pg83/shitty

Repository · seen by GitHub, HackerNews

A terminal emulator built for low latency and fast startup, keeping terminal state on the CPU and rendering cells through Vulkan on Linux and Metal on macOS. The README publishes head to head throughput against ghostty, alacritty and kitty with every terminal equalised first, which is unusual enough to be worth noting. The same code ships under two names for people who would rather not type the first one.

Flagged 23 days ago · 217306 stars · +41%
Why it is here

Open issues 4 to 7, up 75%, and forks 16 to 18, against stars up 3.9%. HackerNews has stopped at 1.2%. The discussion ended and the adoption did not.

How to read this

Method

Every number here is a rate of change, never a total. Size is not news. The largest repository on GitHub is not rising, it arrived years ago. What this looks for is movement, and specifically movement that more than one unrelated source noticed on the same day.

That second condition is the whole method. Stars can be bought, backlinks can be built, app installs can be farmed. This project has already killed 2,601 domains for sitting inside link networks, one of which ran to 2,046 sites and covered 98% of everything it tracked on .it. All of them were manufacturing the exact signal one of these sources measures. Faking two unrelated signals at once is far harder work, so a repository seen moving by GitHub and HackerNews, or an app seen by the App Store and Google Play, counts for more than a bigger number in one place.

Whether two sources are genuinely independent is measured rather than assumed. Majestic ranks domains by backlinks and Tranco ranks them by traffic, and the two were treated as one voice for weeks. Comparing their daily movement across 83,000 domains showed no relationship at all, so they now count as two. Any pair that turns out to share data underneath gets folded back into one.

Entries are written to be read rather than scanned. When the evidence is thin, or the story behind it does not hold up, the entry is left out rather than published with a caveat.
