Expert Sourcing

Expert sourcing is the process by which an expert network identifies, qualifies and presents candidate experts for a specific buyer brief. Distinct from recruitment (which broadens the pool); sourcing narrows the pool to the right experts for the specific question.

Sourcing quality is the operational metric that buyers feel most directly. A network with a deep bench but weak sourcing presents irrelevant experts; a network with a smaller bench but strong sourcing matches the right experts every time.

The sourcing workflow starts with the brief and produces a candidate shortlist — typically 8-15 experts within 24-72h of brief acceptance. Senior researcher review is the gating step on whether candidates make the shortlist.

Sourcing factors include: direct experience with the topic; recency of that experience (cooling-off enforcement); compliance status (no MNPI, no NDA conflicts); fit with brief specifics (seniority, geography, language); past rating performance.

AI is accelerating sourcing workflows but hasn't replaced the senior-researcher judgment step. Reputable networks use AI for candidate suggestion and pattern matching, with human gates on candidate quality before buyer presentation.

03/Frequently Asked3 questions
Q.01

How long does sourcing take?

Typically 24-72 hours from brief acceptance. Faster turnaround possible for institutional clients with documented service-level commitments.

Q.02

Can I see the sourcing process myself?

Senior researcher narrative is shared with the buyer alongside the candidate shortlist. The underlying tooling is proprietary.

Q.03

What if no experts match?

Reputable networks tell the buyer honestly. Either the brief is refined to match available experts, or the engagement is declined. Buyers rarely encounter this if their brief is reasonable.
